Today I’m going to show you how to make my ultimate nachos. Nachos are easy to assemble once you have all your ingredients in place.

Steps

  1. Prep
    1. Chop onion and serrano into small pieces. Chopped red onion sits in the foreground while serrano pepper is chopped on wood cutting board
    2. Peel garlic and put into garlic press (or mince) Garlic is minced with garlic press
  2. Cook Nacho Meat
    1. Heat up a 12 inch non-stick skillet over medium heat cook ground beef until most of the pink is gone Ground beef is browned in non-stick skillet
    2. Add half to 3/4 of the chopped onion and serrano to pan and saute until onions are translucent. Chopped red onion and serrano are added to ground beef in pan Browned ground beef, red onion, and serrano sits toasting skillet
    3. Add garlic and saute for another couple minutes. Minced garlic is added to ground beef, red onion, and serrano in skillet
    4. Add onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, cayenne, and salt to pan. Stir to mix well. onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, oregano, paprika, cayenne, and salt to pan with ground beef, onion, and serrano
    5. Add water to spread the seasoning around. Continue cooking until the water is gone, about 3 minutes. Water is added to pan from Hanshin Tigers mug
  3. Assemble Nachos
    1. Pull out a half sized cookie sheet and put a layer of tortilla chips down. Tortilla chips are spread out evenly over sheet pan
    2. Put down a layer of the ground beef. Ground beef mixture is spooned over tortilla chips
    3. Put down a layer of cheese Grated cheese is added on top of ground beef
    4. Put down a layer of beans. Refried beans are spooned on top of previous layer of cheese
    5. Now put down another smaller layer of chips Another layer of tortilla chips is added on top of the refried beens
    6. Put down another layer of ground beef, cheese, and some sliced onions Ground beef is spooned on top of the layer of tortilla chips Another layer of cheese is added along with fresh chopped red onion
    7. Place Nachos in pre-heated oven for 10 minutes, until cheese is melted and you see some browning on the chips.
  4. Topping it Off
    1. Top nachos with dollops of sour cream and cilantro. Baked nachos sheet is removed from oven and rests on baking mitts. A layer of torn cilantro is added on top along with dollops of sour cream.
    2. Sprinkle avocado pieces and squeeze a little lime over it. Completed Ultimate Nachos dish sits on countertop just waiting to be devoured. It looks so good!
